Mon, Feb 9, PIG CRAWL! (5-8pm): This February, Antonelli’s Cheese is thrilled to be celebrating its 5th Anniversary, and they plan to celebrate in style. Acclaimed charcuterie producer Herb Eckhouse of La Quercia (Iowa) will be flying in just to host a super-special, first of its kind event with Antonelli’s Cheese. Upon collaborating this past summer, John and Kendall Antonelli proposed a “Pig Crawl” to Herb and the concept has blossomed into a kick-off event for their week of celebrations. At each stop on the crawl, the exclusive group will munch on a prepared plate that highlights a La Quercia product, along with a beverage pairing. At each restaurant, the host will explain the pairing and Herb will talk about the featured meat. Our stops include awesome collaborating restaurants Gardner, qui, East Side Showroom, and Easy Tiger! Mix and mingle with Herb, Antonelli’s cheesemongers, esteemed chefs, and fellow foodies as we crawl our way down East 6th St. We’ll end the night with a pairing at Easy Tiger where Herb will conclude our crawl with bonus hand-sliced bites of bone-in Acorn Edition Spallacia! Join in for what hopes to be the first of many national Pig Crawls! Purchase Tickets here. »

A surreal space-time continuum-bending immersive theatrical experience of hysterical historical proportions with a visual arts aperitif and a lucid dream chaser.

Welcome to Paris, 1904. Step inside the Bar Lapin Agile and experience the poignant and surreal meeting of two of the 20th century’s most fascinating minds, Albert Einstein and Pablo Picasso.  Wouldn’t you like to be a fly on the wall for this historic and fictitious occasion? You bet your Unified Field Theory you would.  Now, what if this meeting was orchestrated by Steve Martin? Yes, Steve Martin the comedian.

The Lapin Agile will open it’s doors on January 29th, 2015 for 12 immersive presentations at The Museum of Human Achievement, where we will absurdly bend the space-time continuum and invite you to ponder the definition of creativity, the surreal nature of existence, and the meaning of life, while we challenge you to not pee your pants from laughter. Best of luck!

As if presenting a top-notch comedy by one of America’s finest comedians wasn’t already enough, Present Company will also cross-pollinate, diversify, and strengthen the bonds within Austin’s arts communities by featuring live music and an exhibit of local painters, curated for the event.

Join us for this historic hysterical occassion. The event starts at 8. For mature audiences.

Graciously sponsored by the City of Austin Cultural Arts Division, the Austin Creative Alliance, East End Wines, Lumiere Tintype, RealmBuild, Pilgrim Building, Miller Blueprint, Farmhouse Delivery, and Zinnia & Co.

Promoting the Philosophy of ACCESSIBLE ART, Picasso at the Lapin Agile will be FREE, with a suggested $25 donation to support the artists that make this possible. RSVPs Required.

Food Swap on the Farm! @ HausBar Farm
Feb 15 @ 2:00 pm – 4:00 pm
  • FoodSwap

Join the ATX Swappers for our first swap of the year! Come on out to HausBar Farms for an afternoon of home made food and farm tours. You’ll offer your culinary creations in trade for handcrafted food from other great cooks–think homemade soup, baked goods, spice mixes, ready to heat entrees, salsa, pesto, jam, and so much more!

Swap newbies can check out foodswapnetwork.com‘s resource page and FAQ for tips on attending your first swap.

    What to Bring:

-SNACKS/SAMPLES: bring something you made for everyone to snack on. Not required, but it makes the evening tastier (and maybe helps to move your swap item, yeah for taster samples)! You don’t have to bring the same thing you brought to trade. Please be sure to bring whatever you need to serve your snackage. We have cups, plates, napkins and forks, but you’ll need to bring serving platters, knives, ladles, etc.

-SWAP ITEMS, and a basket or box to carry home your loot

    How the Swap Works:

Our food swap is a place where you can trade an item you made for another item that someone else made. Items are swapped 1-for-1.

    For example:

You have a loaf of bread to swap.

You’ll wrap it up and be prepared to take home in trade for that loaf, a jar of some home-preserved goodness, a half-dozen backyard eggs, a bag of homemade crackers or cookies, or whatever you see on the table that looks good to you.

You can bring as many items (the same or all different, whatever) to trade as you’d like. We usually bring 5-10 items each, but some folks make big batches of things and end up with 20 or more individual items. The more you bring, the more you take home in the end. All items should be packaged with the principle in mind that all packaged items are equal (i.e. don’t expect to take home two items for your one). Items must be edible and homemade/homeforaged/homegrown (please no repackaging of bulk items without doing anything to them!)

The official swap and trade interactions will start right at 3pm, so don’t show up after then with hopes to swap.

We look forward to seeing you again and swapping wares!

    Location information:

Our hosts ask you to please park along Tillery, just around the corner from the farm’s entrance on Govalle once all the spots along the farm property are taken. They want to be courteous to the neighbors.

IMPORTANT! YOU MUST RSVP WITH A TICKET ($3). Click herefor tickets. Swap ticket fees allow organizers to pay for swap incidentals like printing and re-use items (plates, cups, flatware) so we can transition to a fully zero-waste swap. Leftover revenue from our year of swapping goes toward our annual donation to local initiatives).
