During the peak of our hot Texas summer, they gave us sweet, succulent melons, and crispy cucumbers for pickling. In the fall, they supplied the squash for all our favorite gratins and roasts. And this season, they’re sharing cauliflowers (big enough to feed a village, might we add) sweet potatoes, and greens. No chemicals, no hormones, and absolutely nothing artificial. MeetĀ Villa Klehr Farms of Elgin, Texas, a huge part of the Farmhouse family, and one of the big reasons we do what we do. Family-run and sustainably-minded, Scott Klehr and his family moved their life from Minnesota to start anew and do something better for the community by feeding Texans with non-GMO produce and grass-fed meat and poultry! With their all-hands-on-deck approach, including their 11-year-old daughter who drives the tractor and helps with fieldwork, they make delicious happen, harvesting our favorite staples, season over season.
