Think Beyonce is chic? You haven’t seen nothing yet! Come learn about the original Queen Bee, the honey bee! The ultimate girl power species, a honey bee hive is comprised of more than 90% females, who make all the decisions and perform all the labor in a hive. Join us to learn all about honey bee biology and the behavior of this fascinating species. The majority of the class will focus on how to get started as an urban beekeeper, including discussions of the City of Austin regulations, a demonstration of necessary equipment, and information on where you can get your own bees. You will leave this class with a booklet of resources to help you start your very own bee hive. After this classroom section, you will be primed to continue your bee education with a hands-on field workshop with Tara.
Snacks and a special Beyonce-inspired lemonade cocktail made with local raw honey included! Ok ladies (and gentleman!), now let’s get information!
